New to EFT?

In the company of Reiki and Acupuncture, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)* is a powerful new body/mind approach to wellness. Using modified Eastern meditative and kinesthetic principles, EFT is a surprisingly simple method for addressing emotional conflict - a tool that anyone can learn. With EFT we can painlessly and simply address the emotional componants of all kinds of human challenges.

EFT is gentle and does not necessarily require 're-traumatizing' visits to past events. Instead we follow the trail, gently tapping with our fingertips on specific acupoints on the face and body, while tuning in or thinking about the problem. With gentle exploration, we remove the charge, the effect of negative emotions on our bodies. Often this effect is felt as anxiety, pain or any multitude of physical and/or emotional symptoms.

EFT can help you achieve:

When the emotional intensity around a particular experience or physical issue is addressed and minimized with EFT, the body's natural healing ability is better able to do its job. The end result is that you feel better. Most clients report experiencing surprisingly profound emotional and physical improvements. These usually go hand in hand with a renewed ability to meet life's challenges with a sense of confidence and peace.

There is fine art to EFT, especially when working with issues like self-esteem, chronic illness and other complex issues. An experienced practitioner can help detangle complex issues and assist you on a path to feeling better more of the time!

How to do EFT:

EFT Tapping Points

1. Take a deep breath and check-in with how you feel right now...

Tune in with how you feel. A good place to try EFT is on a range of motion or stress issue of some kind. We can all usually identify stress in our bodies somewhere - a tension in the shoulders, perhaps. Give the most intense feeling a name (i.e. this stress, worry or pain) and see if you can identify it anywhere in your body (i.e this pain in my shoulders, this worry in my neck or jaw, etc). Once you have named your feeling, give it an intensity level between 1 (no intensity) and 10 (off the charts!). You will begin with The Setup Phrase (described next), then go slowly through The Sequence...

2. THE SET-UP: While continuously tapping (or lightly patting) the Karate Chop point (side of either hand, fleshy part below your pinky), say the Set Up Phrase three times:

"Even though I have this [state the problem]... I deeply and completely accept myself" or "... I acknowledge how I feel" or "...I'm ok anyway!"

3. THE SEQUENCE: Tap or pat each point lightly (7-10 times or so), tuning into your issue and saying "this [problem] or this [feeling]. For example, say "this anger", "this craving", or "feeling so lonely". You are tuning in to the problem and staying with the feeling by stating it over and over as you tap. This is called the Reminder Phrase. If you like, you can inhale for each point and exhale your Reminder Phrase.

4. Check in: When you are finished with one "round". Check in with your intensity level. Is it lower? higher? Give your feeling a name and an intensity "number" and repeat the entire process one more time. Something more intense may have arisen. If so, you may move to this aspect of your issue and begin again. Allow yourself to revisit your earlier feeling and see how you feel. What is most intense for you right now? Follow that feeling, and give yourself the gift of doing EFT once more on that feeling...
